Presentation: Bringing Rich Commerce To The Desktop with AIR
Joe Berkovitz and Tim Walling of Allurent will describetheir experiences prototyping a new AIR-based application foronline/offline shopping. This app is being piloted in 2008 by majorapparel retailer Anthropologie, and was shown at the MAX 2007 keynote.We'll look at some of the engineering issues we faced, talk abouttechniques we used, share our impressions of the AIR platform, andprobably look at some code!
Joe Berkovitz
Joe Berkovitz is Vice President of Engineering at Allurent. He hasspent 27 years in the software profession, as an architect, interface
designer and engineer. He was Chief Architect at startups Ruckus Network
and Unveil Technologies; before that he spent 8 years at ATG developing
many of the core components of that company's products, originating a
number of key ideas with patents granted or pending. Prior to ATG, he
worked at Houghton Mifflin Co., Stratus Computer and Bolt, Beranek and
Newman, among others. His experience includes consulting as well as
product development; he has worked with such diverse clients as Harvard
Business School, Sony and BMG Music Club.

Tim has over seven years of experience in developing web-based applications with knowledge in various fields including usability, interface design, information architecture, and rich internet applications. As a contractor Tim worked on several projects for clients such as MINI USA, iRobot, Fidelity, and Equifax including the MINI USA configurator redesign/relaunch which has been featured as an Adobe RIA case study.
